We had our press shoot on Monday to kick off ‘Northern Lights’. Iain Munro from Creative Scotland, TV personality Sanjeev Kohli, Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop, and our Director Nick Higgins came along to help launch the project.

You may have spotted us – we were all wearing ‘Northern Lights’ t-shirts and Sanjeev was shouting “It’s not a Cult – but you should join us” – brilliant.

We are a cult of sorts, but only in the best sense.. Instead of trying to make us all the same, we want to see as many different and diverse impressions of Scotland as possible. We want our differences to spark debate about what Scotland is, what it used to be, and what we want it to be.

It was great being out and feeling part of something; being with people you have never met before but who are willing to give it a go. Over the course of Northern Lights we will all come together in the discussion about what Scotland is, and we think that’s pretty exciting.

It’s just the beginning, and it’s off to a great start. But it is going to just keep getting more feisty and revealing, the more people we have involved. We can’t wait to see the variety of videos we get – and the discussions they provoke. We have until the 21st of June to share our worlds through video and everyone is welcome. How do you see your Scotland? What is it like? Share with us and share it with the new Northern Lights community!
