Thank for you for submitting your video to Northern Lights, we would now like you to send us your original footage, you can do this in a number of ways.

PLEASE REMOVE ANY VIDEO EFFECTS, (FOOTAGE SPEEDED UP/SLOW MOTION), TITLES, MUSIC SOUNDTRACKS AND PROVIDE RAW UNEDITED FOOTAGE IF POSSIBLE!

We transfer allows you to send files up to 2gb in size direct to us. Please follow this link and simple upload instructions.
Please include your UNIQUE REFERENCE NUMBER in the message of the email.

Dropbox is an online storage facility which you can upload your file to. If you have a Dropbox account please create a folder named UNIQUE REFERENCE NUMBER, place the footage inside the folder and  share with edit@wearenorthernlights.com

 

If you file is to large to send online please send on a memory stick or data disc to Northern Lights Film Ltd, Film City Glasgow, 401 Govan Road, Glasgow, G51 2QJ

Please be sure to label the envelope with your UNIQUE REFERENCE NUMBER and include a return address so we can send your memory stick back to you. Unfortunately we can’t return data disks.


IMPORTANT:

Uploading files to the internet can take some time depending on the size of your file and your internet connection. Set the upload running and leave your computer to complete the task. If you accidently cancel the upload you will need to start again so go grab a cup of tea or leave the upload running over night.

You should see a progress graphic giving you an indication of how long the upload will take.

FAQs

What is original footage?
Original footage is the video file you downloaded from your camera to your computer before you uploaded to the Northern Lights website.

I shared my video to YouTube direct from my phone or camera and I don’t know how to retrieve the footage?
This is fine. Please reply to this email and let us know if this is the case.  Let us know what device you are using we may be able to help you with this.

What if I shared existing videos from my YouTube account?
This is fine. If you have have the original video you uploaded to YouTube on your computer please upload this. If you no longer have the video then respond to this email and let us know.

Why do I need to send the footage again?
The Northern Lights website uses the video platform YouTube to display all its videos. When you uploaded your video to the project YouTube compresses (reduced the quality) of the video to make it quicker to upload and playback the video on the internet.
The compressed video would look terrible on a cinema screen so if we include your video in the final film we need the best quality video available.

Please note, this request does not confirm your video will make the final cut of the Film. We will inform you via email and the Northern Lights website should your contribution make the final cut.
